Parts and Supplies Management
Video
The objectives of parts and supplies management are: 1) to
minimize equipment downtime by making spare parts and supplies available when
they are needed 2) to avoid unnecessarily large inventories which are
costly. The challenge of parts and supplies management is to balance
downtime costs and inventory costs. To achieve these objectives, the parts
and supplies management sub-system should have 4 elements: 1) stock
numbering and classification 2) stock selection and stock levels 3) parts and
supplies inventory management and 4) fuel management. This will be
discussed in detail in the tape. 25 minutes.
