Pulmonary Function Measurements

                                                           Bacterial Filters

DESCRIPTION
Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) is critical in evaluating the performance of your lungs. Hospitals and many doctor's offices perform PFT evaluation for their patients. Technicians are trained to conduct pulmonary function patient tests. This spirometry course is designed to provide training techniques, use computer software and teach how to compare normal and abnormal spirometry data. This comprehensive course enables students to perform tests on each other using professional equipment as they will be required to do with medical patients.

The computer-based spirometer (called the SpiroBank) enables students and professionals to perform the following listed tests, plot flow/volume loops, FEV1 / FVC curves and print out the measured parameters - and more.

Predicted values, based on standards by Knudson, ITS, Morris/Bass and ERS, are used for comparative standards for real-time patient data.

The SpiroBank is safe to use and is manufactured according to EN60601-1-2 and EEC93142 requirements.

IMPORTANT FEATURES

bullet

Computer-based performance data, flow/volume loop and FEV1 / FVC plots.

bullet

Very flexible software produces accurate, reproducible data and flow loops.

bullet

Records and plots both inspiratory and expiratory data.

bullet

Computer software evaluates data and reports normal condition, mild or severe restriction and/or obstruction.

bullet

Flow accuracy: ±3%.

bullet

Stores in memory up to 100 tests and their curves.

bullet

Multilingual operation in English, Spanish, French or German.

bullet

Operates on a 9V battery.

APPLICATIONS
Designed for use by trained medical technicians or students who have completed a basic course in physiology and/or medical technology, or a general course in health occupations.

COURSE CONTENTS
A comprehensive text-lab manual includes the following units of instruction with suggested live hands-on clinical procedures, unit test and glossary of terms.

  1. Using Computer PFT Software

  2. Pulmonary Function Testing - PFT (FVC, VC)
