SIP376BC Laser Communications

The course stresses the principles and application of solid-state laser diodes as used in telecommunication networks which involve fiber optic cables, CD recording, and CD-ROMs as used in computers. With the advent of large scale computer networking, fiber optic cable communication is an important ingredient. The digitizing of signals and the utilization of ISDN requires a thorough understanding of fiber optic cables and laser light drivers. A variety of optical lenses is included within the study. The course provides for approximately 25 hours of instruction.
