Electronic Security Systems
SCOPE OF STUDY
Crime and its prevention by means of security systems is big business.
Corporations, commercial establishments, and home owners must protect themselves against
intruders. This course focuses on a wide range of security systems most often
encountered. The student learns the operation, practical laboratory evaluation, and
troubleshooting of different types of security and alarm systems.
In this hands-on course, each circuit is evaluated and the student learns both the
positive and negative features of the system. Standard types of security devices are
included so that the student becomes familiar with equipment that he/she is likely to
encounter. The course is based on the use of two pre-wired panels with fault
switches, and one panel which is partially wired. The two insertion panels for this
course must run simultaneously during certain lab procedures or experiments.
